Simpler Times

Photo

Mark, Grandpa Eslin and Danise

This is a photo of me, my sister Danise and my Grandpa Eslin in somewhere in Clearwater Beach, Florida. We would wade out to a sandbar about a mile out (it seemed like a mile anyway) and dig up clams with our toes. Grandpa would then open and eat them. Yuk!

Straight Six

Photo

I saw this unique, obviously hand built three-wheeled motorcycle this morning at Saguaro National Park. This thing had a Nissan OHC engine installed. I would imagine it gets pretty hot riding this machine without any insulation covering that engine!

Click on the photo which will take you to the rest of the photos on Flickr.

Bonsai Garden

Photo

This is a pretty good photo of an old Bonsai tree, sorry I don’t know the species (although it looks like a pine), with more bonsai in the background. The photo was taken at the Japanese Garden inside of Balboa Park in San Diego. Wendy, Thomas and I spent a few days there visiting with my son Christopher who was there doing annual training with the Naval Reserve.

Green Me

Photo

Me and Wendy at the Japanese Garden in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. I really enjoyed this garden, it had lots of peaceful paths and sitting areas. It also had a great selection of bonsai trees which I will document in another post. This picture is also on my Flickr photo blog. I was trying to hold a tree branch off Wendy’s head in this photo.

Ironman

Photo

Went to the new Ironman movie today. Crowded theater but well worth it. Great movie and a teaser sequel trailer after the end credits.

This one is good enough to buy on Bluray!

Sidewinders Baseball

Photo

We went to Tucson Electric Park last night for a minor league baseball game. The Tucson Sidewinders are the farm club team for the Arizona Diamondbacks and are playing their last season here in Tucson. Next year they are moving to Reno, Nevada. Not sure why though.

Here’s a picture of Wendy (far left) and three of her friends who were at the game. Had lots of fun and it was “Thirsty Thursday” where you could purchase a small cup of beer for $1.00!

John Adams book

Photo

I’m close to finishing a Pulitzer Prize winning book by David McCullough about the life of John Adams our second president. Excellent book and HBO has developed a mini-series based on the book. I don’t have HBO and can’t wait for the series to come out on DVD.
